California Burns

California Burns​ is a free e-book published by the California Fire Prevention Organization, a non-profit public benefit charity focusing natural disaster and emergency preparedness in Southern California. The goal of this project was to re-design the existing website which was dark, outdated, and difficult to read. The client asked that the new microsite be concise, highly visual, and emphasize the book is a free resource. After assessing the existing content I opted to keep the original content structure and color palette, but created a new typography system. Together with the client, we chose a new theme and I re-built the website in Wordpress using Elementor (previously built with Divi). I also improved the accessibility of the website content by converting content which was previously built as slide images into text and image elements which could be read by page readers.
